Pablo and Pangea Cinema Day

Back on May 22, 2007 I posted this piece about the short film "El Escondite" by Pablo Olmos Arrayales. That short film and it's powerful message was my first glimpse of the work of this talented director.

May 10, 2008 is Pangea Cinema Day: a day of global acceptance of diversity, mediated through the power of film. Pangea was conceived by Jehane Noujaim and her wish for: a global acceptance of diversity, mediated through the power of film. Noujaim's first step? Getting people to understand each other.

The roster of films is impressive and includes directors from across the globe. One of the underlying messages of Pangea is that the world is becoming smaller and we are all, whether we like it or not, closely interconnected. The word "Pangea" refers to the land mass that once included all of the worlds continents. (See Pangea Wikipedia image)

Pablo Olmos Arrayales short "Why I do It?" (Por Que Lo Hago?) is a touching and emotional story that deals with memory loss (Alzheimer's) by the elderly and the profound impact it has not only on those who suffer from the illness, but the family members who Love them.
